Perivascular Adipose Tissue Inflammation: The Anti-Inflammatory Role of Ghrelin in Atherosclerosis Progression
نویسندگان
چکیده
Perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) and its adipokines engage in bidirectional crosstalk with the vascular wall. Atherosclerosis disrupts this interaction through inflammation, rupture-prone plaques, subsequent thrombosis. The cardioprotective effects of ghrelin are contradiction to adipogenic properties. concurrent research anti-/pro-atherogenic mechanisms PVAT-derived provides a better understanding atherosclerosis progression metabolic disorders. In-depth coverage characteristic features PVAT concerning dysfunction, survey ghrelin-induced anti-inflammatory on macrophage infiltration inhibitory activity proinflammatory adipokine secretion, show that impact endothelial function should be studied relation PVAT.

Roles of Perivascular Adipose Tissue in the Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis
Traditionally, it is believed that white adipose tissues serve as energy storage, heat insulation, and mechanical cushion, whereas non-shivering thermogenesis occurs in brown adipose tissue. Recent evidence revealed that adipose tissue secretes many types of cytokines, called as adipocytokines, which modulate glucose metabolism, lipid profile, appetite, fibrinolysis, blood pressure, and inflamm...
متن کاملAdipose tissue, inflammation and atherosclerosis.
Metabolic syndrome is associated with dysfunctional adipose tissue that is most likely a consequence of the enlargement of adipocytes and infiltration of macrophages into adipose tissue. Obesity and ectopic lipid deposition are major risk factors for diseases ranging from insulin resistance to type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis. Enlargement of adipocytes, due to impaired adipocyte differentiat...
متن کاملParadoxical roles of perivascular adipose tissue in atherosclerosis and hypertension.
Perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) is the fat tissue surrounding most of the vasculature and it has long been considered solely as vessel-supporting connective tissue. There are 2 major types of adipose tissue widely distributed throughout the body: white (WAT) and brown (BAT). PVAT is similar to BAT in rodents, but it was believed that only WAT existed in adult humans and BAT was present only ...
متن کاملProduction of chemokines by perivascular adipose tissue: a role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis?
OBJECTIVE Obesity is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. Although it is known that white adipose tissue (WAT) produces numerous proinflammatory and proatherogenic cytokines and chemokines, it is unclear whether adipose-derived chemotactic signals affect the chronic inflammation in atherosclerosis. METHODS AND RESULTS Histological examination showed that perivascular ...
متن کاملinflammation in metabolic syndrome: role of adipose tissue
metabolic syndrome is a chronic low-grade inflammation condition which is associated with central obesity, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance and hypertension. inflammation in metabolic syndrome is not only associated with elevated serum inflammatory markers, such as c-reactive protein (crp), but also, is associated with low-grade inflammation in adipose tissue and releasing of adipokines. higher...
